Hey, I’m Erin.
I work with people in their spaces during grief and loss to heal through reimaging their space
Based in Lincoln, Nebraska and Ann Arbor, Michigan with in-person or virtual services across the Midwest and virtual services worldwide.
My Approach
Compassionate
The irony: We all experience grief and loss, but few people take the time to sit with one another in it. We need compassionate companionship to truly heal. I use my seminary training and years of experience working with grief to create space to listen and guide you through these tender times.
Creative
Following loss, our home space can stagnate and fill with items, thereby slowing the healing process. I use a creative approach to honor your loved one by going through items with you and deciding what to keep and what to repurpose or give away. I also use my talent for interior design to help reimagine your space, shifting the energy of your home often without even buying new furniture. The bottom line: This is a creative process where we use and repurpose your stuff. No additional purchases necessary!
Pricing
As a rule of thumb, I charge $100 per hour with a sliding scale and payment plans available.
The bigger the project, the more hours required = lower cost per hour.

What Clients are Saying
"Erin ministered to us during a huge milestone in my relationship with my partner: moving in together. We called Erin in to help blend together our styles and plan a ritual to welcome in this new chapter. For us, this meant making room in storage and reimagining our living room. Appreciation for the living world is a big part of my connection with my partner. Erin helped us center this in our living room using items we already had and held dear: nature-centered decor, plants, focus on natural lighting. She helped translate this to a ritual, where we gave thanks to one another, set intentions and honored the land on which we now live together. We love this space and look forward to working with Erin more to radiate this out to other rooms in our home.” -R
“I reached out to Erin for support with reorganizing my office, specifically the filing systems. This task had piled up into a sizable mental block and left me with piled papers, clutter and a space that was not fully functional. From our first conversation, I trusted Erin. My appreciation for her skills in holding space only grew from there. She is compassionate and an excellent facilitator. This was evident from the intake process to outlining the flow of the project to understanding my need to take breaks between sessions when life became too busy. However, what really made working with Erin so impactful is the way she invited me to share stories and name the feelings that inevitably come up with sorting through old photos, mementos and documents. The process was an energetic clearing as well as a physical cleaning of my space. So refreshing and something I couldn't have done without her!” -A.S.
“The 8th Space brought to my new home. In the very first meeting, I could tell that I was consulting with a passionate professional with real benevolence for my living situation. Erin is a fabulous spiritual and spatial architect, and I would recommend her services to anyone I know who is on the move to a new home or even simply looking to spruce up their existing special space.” -S.
“Erin brings a kind, nonjudgmental presence that really helped me to ground, connect with Spirit, and call in the home I want to have. She helped me overcome the anxiety that was holding me back from de-cluttering by being present, offering ritual, and guiding me through practical steps. She also helped me re-decorate my apartment on a very limited budget! I highly recommend her services to anyone looking for support in making their home a place where they truly feel at peace.”-A.
“Since Erin has organized several closets and work areas in my home, I feel as though my home serves me better. I can easily and quickly find needed items. I put away items because there is a designated closet, shelf, drawer, etc. for my ‘stuff.’ Erin also helped me sell many items. Managing my home is much easier since Erin helped me put my home in order. Erin has a calm presence. She works quickly and efficiently. If you are wanting to reduce items in your home, as well as organize your many treasures, I recommend working with Erin from The 8th Space. - G.N.
“Erin has the gift of compassion and patience when working with clients who have been through extreme loss. I hired her initially to work with my parents to help them organize when they relocated to Lincoln, NE after 36 years in St. Louis, MO. After the tragic loss of their daughter, and three grandchildren, Erin was so kind as my parents shared stories of our beloved family members and helped them make careful choices about what to keep and what artifacts let go when preserving the history of our family.
Sorting through collectibles and treasures to pass along to grandchildren and children was particularly challenging. Favorite antiques were items repurposed throughout the home. Erin’s tenacity and tact were skillfully and artfully applied when arranging their new home. My mother’s vast 65 years of accumulated crafting and sewing supplies were settled into a workable sewing room while duplicated and extra things others were sent along to worthy organizations that could benefit from the supplies.
After my husband passed away suddenly in 2022, I was so thankful that Erin was already part of my life. Her academic preparation as a minister and her service as a death doula were invaluable to me as I struggled to accept my new life as a widow. Erin and I began the process of downsizing my husband’s vast collection of military history books, strategic games and other collectibles appreciated by others in his field. Our goal was to raise money for a scholarship in his name at the college where Jim and I both teach. Erin not only found the most efficient and effective ways to sell my husband’s collections, but she also planned and facilitated a yard sale raising significant amount towards the scholarship, over $6000 has been raised so far.
One of the spaces critical to address was the room where my husband was cared for during his hospice time. I could not use the room for nearly two years after that, but Erin has helped me to repurpose the space into a yoga/meditation room and I now find a sense of peace and solace in there. Erin’s gifts are immeasurable, and deeply appreciated. I ardently recommend Erin as an organizer, a downsizer, an interior decorator, a death doula, and a great friend.” -E.N.I.

It's up to you! Every project requires an initial 30-minute free consultation either virtually or in your home. Beyond that, you can be as hands-off as you'd like. Generally speaking, the less you are involved, the higher the cost.
-
Absolutely! In fact, it costs less for a simple re-organization versus a deep dive.

I use a variety of meditation and breathwork techniques to start our time together. As a trained ritualist I use my background of experiences to honor your religious and spiritual background. I cater the experience to where you are and what your needs are right now.

Great question! This work exists at the intersection of grief and healing, home organization and interior design, and environmental consciousness/sustainability. It is not a substitute for mental healthcare from a licensed professional - a very beneficial step to take when you are grieving. Yet, even the best evidence-based psychotherapy for grief does not touch the spiritual and spatial elements of grieving. That is, at the end of your therapy session, you still go home to a stagnant, cluttered space that may hinder healing. In seminary, I learned how sacred it is to hold space even within the space where loss may have occurred. You may be able to meet with a licensed mental health professional virtually from the comfort of home, but they do not come into your home, hold space for your grief, and help you to reimagine your space to facilitate healing. This service is unique to The 8th Space.
